We understand that it can be daunting to come to a church for the first time. What should you wear? What will the music be like? Will people be friendly?
It is only fair that you know what to expect when you come to Cornerstone.
As you enter into the hall at James Erskine Public School for the 10am service, you will be welcomed by a greeter who will hand you a hymnal. If you need a Bible, help yourself to one from the table. We use the New King James Version in our services.
You will notice that most people are dressed casually, and a few are more formal. Children sit with their parents for the song service — which is a blend of traditional hymns and contemporary songs accompanied by piano and a small orchestra.
Just before the sermon, the children are invited to go to Sunday school. There are two age-specific classes — preschool and primary.
The sermon is drawn from a text of Scripture. Our style is to systematically explain what the Bible says while also suggesting some ways to apply it. Notes to take home are often provided.
Following the service, which usually concludes around 11.30am, morning tea is supplied. Most people stay around for an informal chat.
Our message. Our history. Our leadership. Our beliefs. Our connections.
